Gurgaon: Two men were arrested on Saturday for allegedly murdering a youth whose body was found in a drain at Budhera. The police said the body has been identified.
On Oct 3, the Budhera police were informed about the body lying under a bridge near SGT Medical College. The body was afloat, wrapped in clothes.
During the investigation, the police identified the deceased as Rohit (24), a resident of Molahera village.
On Saturday, the police team made a significant breakthrough by arresting two accused, Bharat (20) and Pritam (26), both residents of Molahera village.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that Bharat's mother had filed a case against Rohit in 2020, under the SC/ST Act and for assault, which is still pending in court. Bharat and Pritam were witnesses in the case. Rohit had been threatening Bharat and Pritam to withdraw the case, prompting them to plan his murder along with another accomplice.
Around 10pm on Oct 1, they met Rohit at Harijan Chaupal near their homes, and an altercation ensued on the terrace over withdrawing the case.
Bharat strangled Rohit from behind using a cloth, and then slit his throat with a knife. After the murder, they threw the body from the terrace into the empty school ground behind the chaupal.
They then wrapped the body in the bedsheet and dumped it in the dirty drain in Budhera, the cops said.
The accused will be presented before the court for further legal proceedings and police remand. During the remand period, the police will interrogate the accused regarding their other accomplices and make further recoveries in the case. The investigation is ongoing, said a spokesperson of the police.
